“Malcolm”

Surfside 4×4 is thrilled to present this amazing unicorn of a Defender. Malcolm is a 1993 SV90 45th Anniversary Defender 90. They only made 90 of these and only for the U.K. Market. They just don’t get any rarer in the Defender World. It is estimated that there are only 35 or so left. There is only one other known example in the U.S.

On top of that, this was not some regular production line Defender with a couple decals thrown on it. It was built by Land Rover Special Vehicles {LRSV}, the factory’s custom shop, where they built the Camel Trophy Vehicles and many other super cool, unusual Land Rovers.

Malcolm is a two owner vehicle, has 129k original miles, is loaded with factory upgrades and is in excellent condition. The original owner obviously loved and cherished his 90 SV and it shows.  He knew he had something special and  kept it for almost 30 years.  It is equipped with the ultra reliable 200tdi turbo diesel engine, and LT77 5 speed transmission. It is painted in stunning Caprice Blue, with Moorland Cloth Seats, as were all 90 SVs. The real unique and valuable  parts of this truck are the full NAS Padded Roll Cage, Tickford Soft Top, and Swing Away Spare Tire Carrier, just like on NAS Defender 90s. It also has the same, rare, dash clock as the NAS 90s and it still works!  Malcolm’s owner was quite fastidious as he retained the original dealer correspondence, purchase order, service records, owner’s wallet, and  the unicorn of a unicorn……the original 90 SV Brochure. Wow.

Malcolm was nice enough to be displayed in the lobby of the factory for their 75th Anniversary Celebrations, alongside other notable Vintage Land Rovers. We just completed an inspection and replaced the timing belt and water pump to ensure reliable operation. Malcom drives great and has just completed a 100 mile plus highway journey to confirm. She is a blast to drive with the windows rolled up. This is a unique opportunity to adopt a very rare and fun Defender that is an outstanding investment.
